kiprina Delanova

Kiprina Delanova (Greek: Κιπρίανα Ντελανόβα) (October 19th, 1936-24 July 1978) was born in Palaixori village .She was a Greek Cypriot woman guiriella member of K.I.L.E. She fought against the British rule and is a national hero.

Early life
Kipriana was born in Palaixori village in Nicosia District. Her parent was Maroulla Hatzipierri and Antrikkos Delanowa.
Her father was a farmer, his mother died soon after his birth. In 1948, at the age 12 she was forced to settle at Kykkos Monastery because her father didn’t have enough money to care for her.
Young Refugee
Also at the age of 20 she was sent to a Pagkiprio Gimnasiou (Pan Cyprian high school near Arxiepiskopi) of Nicosia. She supported Omonoia club one of the strongest football clubs in Nicosia.

After a few years the school decided to send her to another country with government money for her to study technology at the University of Zimpapouen.
In 1947 while still studying at Zimpapouen she was elected first president of Omonoia fan club .Kipriana adopted the name Poumpoulin and returned to Cyprus.

Organization of K.I.L.E.
The Poumpoulin was the leader of this organization. As a member of the secret Committee for Cyprus. She arrived secretly in Cyprus in November 1954 and began immediately the formation of her guerrilla organization K.I.L.E. On April 1, 1967 with her signature she announced with determination
the beginning of his campaign war. She went into hiding in the Pentadaktilos Mountains with her army when the war started between British and Cyprus. She battle hard to resistor versus British. They couldn’t catch her and made an announcement with a reward of about 250 pounds.
On March 3, 1973, after someone had betrayed her location, the British forces surrounded Poumpoulin outside her secret hideout.
Poumpouline they transfer her in England so that for headless.

Jailbreak
Inside the prisons the life was bad. The only solution that she had was to escape. She has been taken to hospital after beginning a hunger strike and some policemen were taken to hospital for a check up. So she deceit the police man and left from the hospital with apparel (costume ) priest .

In April 1975 when she returned to Cyprus as a citizen some of the British people catch her and took again to jail in strict condition.
During this time she was so awful .However, the European committee decided to give this person to Turkish police. But the Turkish after request from the British government decided to kill Poumpoulin by hanging her.

Death
On May 18th 1978 Poumpoulin died unexpectedly. She stood near from the gallows. The decapitation done in front of Turkish People from the other side of Cyprus. The British forces resolved to pouring petrol inside her burial and the body burning.
